To maintain centering of opaque web materials

Description

The MINI-ARRAY high-resolution emitter is positioned above the material, and the receiver is below, to minimize the attenuation of emitted light caused by dirt buildup on the lenses.

The sensor transmits the center location of the material to a process controller, using the unique "Middle Beam Blocked" measurement mode, available from the controller. The process controller, in turn, controls correction mechanisms that maintain the position of the web.
