A rugged, self-contained point-to-point wireless network that provides reliable configured I/O for remote sensing and actuation has been introduced by Banner Engineering. The new SureCross™ DX70 is designed for process and assembly/manufacturing automation, agriculture monitoring, remote tank level management and waste water treatment installations. Additional applications include robotics, crosswalk signal actuation, machinery monitoring, rotating machinery and many others.
The network is ideal for both retrofit and new installations. It delivers two-way RX/TX communication with full acknowledgement at ranges up to 4.8 km (3 miles) in line-of-sight. Four discrete and two analog inputs and outputs are available on both the Node and Gateway. This assures easy, seamless installation and operation with most sensor and control systems.
It uses the state-of-the-art Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) protocol to assure reliable and secure data communication in an industrial environment. If the Radio Frequency link is lost, the network uses Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) technology to direct the outputs to a user-determined state. This prevents unsafe or wasteful operation. A built-in signal strength indicator provides real-time feedback on the quality of the radio signal.
Both the Gateway and Node units are housed in IP67/NEMA 6P rated enclosures for dependable operation in challenging indoor and outdoor environments. The networks are approved for use in the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM) band. Models for use in the USA and Mexico operate on the 900 MHz frequency. Those used in Europe, Asia and Brazil operate on the 2.4 GHz frequency. Internal, external and outdoor antenna options are available. A simple binding procedure allows multiple SureCross networks to operate simultaneously in the same location without interference or crosstalk. Internal DIP configuration switches give the DX70 even greater application flexibility if required.
