Banner Engineering to Exhibit at Pack Expo Las Vegas 2011

MINNEAPOLIS — September 13, 2011 — Banner Engineering Corp. will demonstrate a number of products in Booth C-349 at Pack Expo 2011, which is scheduled to take place Sept. 26-28 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Among the recent products Banner will feature that are instrumental to the packaging industry include the iVu Plus vision sensor with Ethernet IP, the R58B Expert Registration Mark sensor, and the VSM Series of miniature photoelectric sensors.

Equipped with built-in Ethernet, both the iVu Plus TG and iVu Plus Bar Code Reader (BCR) models can export data, such as inspection and image results, to HMIs and PCs at a much greater speed. In addition, the iVu accepts standard industrial Ethernet protocols, such as EtherNet/IP. A 2.7" (68.5 mm) LCD Color Integrated Display comes standard with the integrated models, while the Remote versions feature a 3.5" (88.9 mm) display. The Remote models provide a solution for applications where the sensor location makes it difficult to use an integrated display such as inaccessible, dirty environments.

Banner's new R58B Expert Registration Mark sensor provides a simplified TEACH process via a single, push-button click on the sensor or via remote input. By reducing the complexity and increasing the speed of teaching the mark and the background, the R58B reduces operator training and product change over time. In addition to detecting 16 levels of gray scale, the R58B features an ultra-fast 10 kHZ switching frequency, smart gain-control algorithm to maximize performance in low-contrast or high-gloss applications. The R58B is also cased in an IP67-rated, rugged zinc alloy die-cast housing with high-quality acrylic lens suitable for food processing applications and provides a single output (PNP or NPN by model).

VSM Series sensors provide an ideal solution for a wide variety of applications in a number of different industries, specifically those requiring smooth, hygienic designs such as food and beverage, and pharmaceuticals. They are housed in a choice of a threaded or smooth, self-contained 4 mm barrel with 300 series stainless steel, or in flat-pack side-looking housing, making them easy to clean. The sapphire lens resists a wide variety of chemicals and cutting fluids. The sensors provide an advanced convergent optical design for a very repeatable sensing range. Models are available with a 10, 20, 50 or 90 mm sensing range, and up to 250 mm as a through beam. A narrow, well-focused sensing beam allows the entire sensor to be recessed into the fixture (excluding the 50 mm range model).

Banner personnel will be on hand to answer any questions regarding products, applications, and solutions.
