A-GAGE MINI-ARRAY Series Controllers—Discrete/Analog Outputs

Product image

Overview

  • Offers 16 to 30V dc supply voltage with one NPN or one PNP output, and either two 0-10V dc or two 4-20 mA analog outputs, depending on model
  • Determines target object location, overall size, total height or width, using up to two of nine programmable measurement modes
  • Provides four configurable scanning methods
  • Includes continuous or gated scanning
  • Allows control of scan initiation with separate gate input
  • Ignores activity in one or two fields along the length of the array with programmable blanking
  • Supports serial communication (ASCII or binary) with a host computer or PLC using RS-232 or RS-485 interface
  • Includes advanced configuration software

Product Specifications

Power Requirements16 to 30V dc @ 1.25 A; controller alone (without emitter/receiver) requires 1 A
InputsSensor input (5 connections):Emitter and receiver wire in parallel to five terminals
Trigger (Gate) input:Optically isolated, requires 10 to 30V dc (7.5 K input impedance) for gate signal
Discrete Output150 mA max. @ 30V dc Discrete output (ALARM):One NPN (current sinking) output
OFF-state leakage current:less than 10 µA @ 30V dc
ON-state saturation voltage:less than 1V @ 10 mA; less than 1.5V @ 150 mA
Analog OutputsMACV-1:0-10V sourcing adjustable Null and Span (20 mA current limit)
MACI-1:4-20 mA current sinking adjustable Null and Span (16 to 30V dc)
Output Protection CircuitryProtected against short circuit of outputs
Sensing PerformanceAnalog resolution:Span/(Number of Channels)
Analog temperature variation:0.01% of full scale/° C
Analog linearity:0.1% of full scale
Serial Data OutputsRS-232, ASCII or binary data format
Baud rate:9600, 19.2K or 38.4K, 8 data bits, 1 start bit, 1 stop bit, even parity. Clear data may be suppressed; Header string may be suppressed in binary format
ProgrammingUse RS-232 PC-compatible computer running Window 95, 98, NT, ME, XP or 2000 operating system and Banner supplied software
Sensor Scan Time55 microseconds per beam plus processing time. The processing time is dependent on the scan analysis and the number of active outputs. This timing assumes a straight scan, continuous and TBB mode. Processing time:1.5 milliseconds
System Response TimeOutputs are not active for 5 seconds after system power up. Maximum response time for the sytem is two sensor scan cycles.

A scan cycle includes a sensor scan plus any serial data transmission. Serial transmission (if activated) follows every sensor scan.
IndicatorsOutput 1 (V OUT or I OUT):
Red ON steady:indicates Output #1 is active
ALARM:
Red ON steady:indicates Output #2 is active
GATE:
Red ON steady:indicates voltage is applied to Trigger (GATE) input
ALIGN:
Green ON steady:indicates sensor is aligned (excess gain less than 1x)
DIAG1, 2, 3:used in combination to indicate system status (see data sheet)
Construction Polycarbonate
Environmental RatingIP20; NEMA 1
Operating ConditionsTemperature:-20° to +70° C
Relative humidity:95% (non-condensing)
