Cable Jacket Flaw Detection
To sense defects along the length of multiwire cable
Description
Two OMNI-BEAM fiber optic sensors detect bulges in the cable that indicate kinked, knotted or crossed wires in the cable. Both fiber optic pairs are positioned so that some light passes on each side of the cable. The two beams are perpendicular, for optimum scanning coverage. The ac-coupled amplifier of the OMNI-BEAM sensors reliably responds to small irregularities, resulting in a pulsed output signal.
