To inspect objects being shrink-wrapped for product presence/absence, to trigger the wrapping mechanism to reverse and complete the shrink-wrap process
The adjustable-field Q60 sensor is mounted on the robot arm, looking horizontally at the pallet to be wrapped. The arm moves around the pallet of stacked goods as long as the sensor detects that goods are present. When the arm reaches the top of the stack and the Q60 no longer senses the product, the sensor signals the arm to reverse directions and complete the wrapping process.
The Q60's 2-meter sensing range is key to the success of this application. The sensor can detect the product on the pallet at a distance of up to 2 meters, but ignores objects in the background, beyond that distance.
