Robot End Effector

Sensors are used at the ends of robotic arms to detect the presence of tools or product. Unfortunately, not all robots are in a position to either supply power to a sensor or to allow a wired solution.

Description

To eliminate frequent and unpredictable slip rings or flex cable failure on robotic arms, a SureCross Wireless Node with a FlexPower Module monitors the end effector. Two NAMUR proximity sensors, each powered by the FlexPower battery module, are characterized for power draw, allowing predictable, scheduled replacement of the battery. The Nodes transmit the sensor data back to a centrally located Gateway that can either transmit specific actions to other Nodes or forward the sensor data to a host control system for analysis or machine control.
