Banner's Control Panel Lighting Options
There are many challenges facing OEMs, panel builders, and end-users when it comes to the illumination of control panels, from inconsistent or insufficient lighting to spatial constraints within the control panel itself, which makes it difficult to mount light fixtures. Fortunately, low-profile, cost-efficient lighting options can solve these challenges by providing hands-free, bright light to make tasks in enclosures easier.
Control panels need proper illumination for maintenance technicians to complete tasks efficiently and avoid making costly mistakes. Tasks such as installing components and performance monitoring are routine in manufacturing environments. LED illuminators can come pre-installed in new enclosures, but if not already installed, they can be retrofitted on existing panels.
Control panels not sufficiently illuminated by overhead lighting force the maintenance technician to provide their own light source. This can make tasks more difficult to accomplish, since technicians would need to use both hands to see properly. Retrofitting existing control panels with task lighting provides hands-free maintenance with lighting inside the enclosure.
Banner offers several LED lighting options that are perfect for control panel illumination regardless of spatial constraints. These lighting options come in a variety of form factors and include capabilities such as cascading models, AC and DC powered versions, and a broad range of mounting brackets that offer versatility and simplify installation.
WLF12 Flexible Strip Light
The WLF12 is a flexible LED strip light that is engineered for industrial applications. It offers an adhesive backing for quick installation—just peel and stick to the inside of the control panel enclosure. It features a slim profile with lengths ranging from 300 mm – 4,000 mm which can be cut in 50 mm increments, eliminating the concern of not fitting in small spaces. Lumen output varies between 285 – 3,700 lumens, providing sufficient illumination for most panel lighting needs. Its durable, IP66/IP67/IP69K-rated, silicone-encapsulated housing provides long-lasting, worry-free illumination for technicians and engineers. Connecting the light to a switch and power source is easy via the M12 connector.
WLB32
The WLB32 Series is an energy-efficient LED light fixture that features an even light output to eliminate glare in control cabinets and other enclosures. It has several power supply options depending on the model, including DC, AC, and even Power over Ethernet (PoE). The WLB32 is available with integral motion sensing, which is ideal for areas where a physical switch is not useful and reduces energy consumption when not in use. With four lengths available—285 mm, 570 mm, 850 mm, or 1130 mm—and the ability to cascade, the right combination can be configured to fit your application. It has an operation lifespan of over 50,000 hours, with light output ranging from 800 – 3,000 lumens. Learn why the American Hoffman Corporation chose this option for its control cabinets.
WLS15
The WLS15 Series is a strip light with a low-profile design and sealed housing. Its model lengths range from 146 mm – 1126 mm, providing the perfect fit in a variety of control panels, even with spatial constraints. It maintains an output of 350 – 1,400 lumens on standard models and 750 – 3,000 lumens from high intensity models. Cost-efficient, it provides a low barrier to entry when outfitting illumination capabilities for your control panel. Cascadable and connectorized models are available, which allow multiple lights to be strung together and connected with optional switches and occupancy sensors.
WLS28-2 (HLS28 for Hazardous)
The WLS28-2 Series is an LED strip light with sturdy aluminum housing and shatterproof windows, which make it an ideal general purpose LED light for enclosures. It comes in a variety of window options with an output between 400 – 3,200 lumens. With eight lengths—145 mm, 285 mm, 430 mm, 570 mm, 710 mm, 850 mm, 990 mm, 1130 mm—it can come with either a clear or diffuse window depending on your application and lighting preferences. Cascadable, it offers the ability to string multiple together for larger applications.
Its hazardous location variant, the HLS28 Series, is triple certified for cULus, ATEX, and IECEx and suitable for global use in hazardous enclosures. Specific models come with an integrated motion sensor that can be configured for auto-on when an enclosure is opened, or when motion is detected.
WLR95
The WLR95 Series is a problem-solving rectangular LED light that delivers exceptional illumination for control panels and other types of enclosure. Its compact size and unique form-factor allow for an impressive output relative to its size while maintaining its ability to fit in confined spaces. Its rugged, overmolded exterior can withstand harsh environments. This compact light offers 600 lumens of output.
S15WLWQ
The S15WLWQ is an in-line LED illuminator that was specifically designed so that illumination may be added in tight spaces, or where new wiring is not possible. Built in the rugged S15 body, it shares the same, minimalistic form factor as our S15L Series in-line status indicators. The total length of the S15WLWQ is just 58 mm, making it ideal for even the most space-constrained enclosures. These miniature lights offer 55 lumens of output and emit light 360 degrees around their housing, which is just 15 mm in diameter. The S15WL installs directly in-line with existing M12 cordsets where 24 V DC is present. Up to four units may be installed in one chain back-to-back, or spaced out with double-ended cables depending on the illumination needs of the enclosure.
