Moving Walkway Indication
Challenge: Clear Indication at Walkway Entrances
Moving walkways are designed to transport passengers throughout an airport at a quicker pace. They are often accompanied by art installations or music for users to enjoy as they speed along. Moving walkways, also known as travelators, are typically installed in pairs. An international airport recently renovated a concourse by adding higher ceilings, charging stations, and a pair of moving walkways. The project manager sought a solution that would provide clear indication at the entrances of the walkways to ensure a steady flow of traffic.
Solution: K50 Pro Indicators Indicate Direction of Travel
K50 Pro indicators were installed at the entrances of both moving walkways. They were specifically placed on the edge of the walkway and before the conveyor so users would see the light before stepping on. The lights were used to indicate to passengers which walkway they should enter. The K50 Pro on the walkway on the left was programmed to show red and the one on the right would show green. This was an easy setup that communicated to passengers which walkway they should use based on their direction of travel. These lights proved to be an industrial solution that withstood heavy abuse from carts and luggage that would sometimes hit the light as well as harsh cleaning chemicals and water.
