This is a short how to video that will cover the basics of configuring the Single-Edge mode for the EG24 Precision Edge Sensor from Banner Engineering.
Single-edge mode tracks the location of a target's edge, based on how much of the beam is blocked.
In this video, we will cover how to set the sensor to measure across the entire field of view, as well as how to set a smaller range between two specific points.
If you need assistance with the configuration process, you can find instructions printed on the side of the housing.
To set the sensor to utilize the full field of view, begin by pressing and holding the button on the back of the housing for two or more seconds.
The LEDs will begin flashing in unison to indicate that the sensor is in Teach mode.
Ensure that the beam is completely unobstructed, and press the button one time. The LEDs will start double flashing to indicate that it is ready for the second teach point.
With the beam still clear, press the button one more time.
The green LED will flash twice to confirm that the single-edge detection range has been set, and the sensor will return to Run mode.
To set the sensor to a smaller field of view for more precision, begin by pressing the button for two or more seconds until the LEDs flash in unison.
Present a target in a position that will represent a four milliamp output signal, and press the button one time.
When the LEDs begin double flashing, move the target to a position that will represent a 20 milliamp output, and push the button one more time.
The green LED will flash twice to confirm that the new field of view has been set, and the sensor will return to Run mode.
That covers the basics for configuring the Single-Edge mode for the EG24 Precision Edge Sensor.
