Bright LED Indication on Automatic Industrial Doors
Automatic industrial doors streamline movement through warehouses—employees simply move through open doorways, rather than having to manually open and close doors behind them. This quick movement speeds worker efficiency and productivity. However, with that quick movement comes its own unique challenge: to strike the balance between speed, efficiency, and safety. Star Equipment, a leading integrator of loading dock services and solutions, understood the nature of this challenge and collaborated with Banner on a solution that would marry the two companies' specialties—in this case, Star Equipment's quick and efficient industrial doors with Banner's intuitive, cost-effective indicator lights.
Banner's WLS27 strip lights with EZ-STATUS™ indicator light provide the perfect solution to this challenge. Keep reading to find out how this product—a traditional illumination device combined with multicolor status indication—integrated with Star Enterprise's industrial doors to clearly indicate the status of the door's motion, and, as a result, reduce risks and maintain efficient movement in the workplace.
Star Equipment offers a variety of door solutions, including high-speed industrial doors. These doors use a motion sensor that detects approaching employees and opens the doors automatically. After the employee has walked through the door, it automatically begins to close. Workers need to know when the doors are in motion in order to stay clear. Audible alarms can be used to alert operators of door movement, but they can be difficult to hear in noisy warehouse environments.
Star Equipment installed Banner's WLS27 multicolor strip lights with EZ-STATUS™ on many of their automatic door solutions to create an intuitive, easy-to-see indication solution. The lights are mounted on each side of the door to face oncoming employees. When the door prepares to close, the WLS27 strip lights turn yellow to warn approaching workers that they should proceed with caution. The strip light then turns red to indicate that the door is in motion and all employees should remain clear of the doorway. Cascadable models only require power on one side of the doorway, saving time and money on installation.
The wide angle and long length of the WLS27 strip lights generate highly visible indication that workers can easily see from a distance or at an angle. The uniform light stands out at eye level against the door frame so workers can quickly move out of the doorway at the first sign of movement. The lights are also constructed with sturdy aluminum frames and a shatterproof housing, making them resistant to impact from mobile equipment that passes through the doorway.
Star Equipment strives to provide long-term, cost-effective solutions for their customers. The WLS27 strip lights utilize a cost-effective design and energy efficient LEDs for years of reliable indication—no maintenance required. The strip light does not need any bulb or ballast changes throughout its lifespan, saving customers time on and money spent on repairs.
