This is a short how to video that will cover the proper mounting orientation of the QM30VT vibration and temperature sensor from Banner Engineering.
For this example, we will be using one of our magnetic mounting brackets to show how the sensor should be oriented on a motor, a gearbox and a pillow block bearing. The most important requirement for mounting the current 30 feet sensor is to ensure that the x-axis is properly oriented with respect to the device you will be monitoring when mounting the sensor to a motor.
It is best practice to ensure that the x-axis is parallel to the motor shaft.
The top of the sensor is marked with an arrow to indicate the direction of this axis.
For the best results, the sensor should be mounted over the bearing that is being monitored.
Similarly, when mounting the sensor to a gearbox, you should ensure that the x-axis is parallel to the output shaft.
When monitoring a pillar black bearing. The sensor should be mounted on top of the bearing with the x-axis parallel to the shaft passing through it.
That covers the basics of properly mounting the QM30VT vibration and temperature sensor.
