Banner T30R Series Radar Sensor Detects Where Others Cannot
New radar sensor is a longer-range, more reliable alternative to ultrasonic sensors
MINNEAPOLIS —
Banner Engineering, a global leader in industrial automation, introduces the T30R radar sensor, a long-range, high-performance sensor that provides reliable detection and position feedback in extreme conditions where ultrasonic and laser sensors fail.
“Banner’s T30R is a new, best-in-class radar sensor that combines a longer sensing range, a short dead zone and outstanding resolution,” said Dana Holmes, Senior Product Marketing Manager at Banner Engineering. “A distinct advantage of this sensor is its ability to provide reliable performance and accuracy in challenging indoor atmospheres and extreme outdoor conditions. It is resistant to rain, snow, fog, smoke, steam, sunlight and temperature changes, as well as dust and airborne particulates,” Holmes added.
The T30R’s robust operational performance is matched by 122 GHz radar detection capabilities that exceed those of traditional 24 GHz radar sensors. The sensor can precisely detect objects as close as 150 mm and can measure with linearity and repeatability less than +/- 1 cm with no crosstalk risks when sensors are mounted in close proximity. The T30R can reliably detect highdielectric targets, like metal or large amounts of water, as well as challenging lower-dielectric materials, such as wood, rock, or organic material. These powerful capabilities solve a wide range of challenging applications such as: collision avoidance and blind spot systems, detection, profiling and positioning of mobile equipment, car wash vehicle profiling, outdoor detection-and-measurement applications, level measurement applications in dusty atmospheres, and many more extreme applications.
Featuring Banner’s Frequency Modulated Continuous Wave (FMCW) technology for reliable detection of both stationary and moving targets, the T30R is designed to be programmed using IO-Link, integrated pushbuttons, remote teaching input, or Banner’s free configuration software. Dual discrete outputs are available for slow and stop positions, and analog and IO-Link options are available for absolute distance measurement. The T30R also features Banner’s Pulse Pro output that can connect directly to a range of Banner indicator lights with no separate controller — a simple integration solution that offers direct process feedback to the operator by means of intuitive, color changing illumination.
The compact T30R radar sensors perform in a wide operating temperature range of -40°C to 65°C and features IP67-rated housings.
