FAQs
What’s the difference between task lighting and indicator lighting?
Task lighting is designed to illuminate a specific work area so operators can clearly see equipment, parts, labels, and processes. Industrial LED task lights improve visibility, reduce eye strain, and help maintain quality and safety on production lines.
Indicator lighting communicates machine status, process conditions, or safety information. Tower lights, LED indicators, and in-line status lights use color and light patterns to signal conditions such as run, fault, standby, or maintenance required.
What power supply options do the lighting products support?
Most industrial LED lighting and indicator products are designed for low-voltage DC power systems commonly used in automation environments. Typical options include:
- 12–30 V DC for compatibility with PLCs and industrial control panels
- Select models with universal AC voltage options for facility power integration
Specific voltage requirements vary by product, so it is important to review the product datasheet before installation.
What mounting hardware or accessories are available for Lighting products?
Banner Engineering offers a range of mounting options and accessories available to support industrial lighting and indicator installations, helping you integrate lighting effectively into machinery and production areas. Options including mounting brackets, connectivity solutions and more.
What is the difference between IO-Link Series, PICK-IQ Series (Modbus RTU), and Pro-Editor Software?
IO-Link Series: Is an open standard serial communication protocol that allows for the bi-directional exchange of data from IO-Link supported devices, lights, or indicators that are also connected through a master.
Pick-IQ Series: Is a purpose-built, Modbus-compatible serial bus protocol that uses a Common ID to reduce the typical latency that results from polling multiple devices.
Pro-Editor Software: Allows control via discrete inputs with advanced software configuration of colors, logic, modes, and more.
When would programmable lighting be ideal to have?
The Programmable lighting and indication is ideal if you are looking for advanced capabilities or flexibility beyond a traditional factory indicator. Whether you have discrete or protocol controlled devices, they use Discrete I/O, IO-Link, Ethernet, or Modbus for real-time communication across your factory.
How can LED indicators be customized for specific machine functions?
Using PLCs, HMI or some sort of controller, LEDs can be programmed to change colors (green/yellow/red) to show process stages, machine warmup, or emergency stops.
