To detect the presence of two cupcakes—one from each row—on shiny metal mesh conveyors
Freshly baked cupcakes move in rows on two separate conveyors to a packaging machine. One cupcake from each row must be present for the packaging machine to operate.
EZ-BEAM T18 sensors mounted above the conveyors, with 80 cm center-to-center spacing, detect the cupcakes while ignoring the shiny conveyor. If both sensors detect a cupcake at the same time, the packaging machine wraps the cupcakes. If only one sensor detects a cupcake, that conveyor stops until the other conveyor catches up—the packaging machine does not operate until two cupcakes are detected.
