Assembly Tracking

Q90R2 Dual Truck Bay

Challenge

Tracking which assembler completed each step on a unit is unreliable, slowing defect resolution and process improvement. When instructions or line conditions change, manual distribution and confirmation cause delays and increase the risk of errors. Limited visibility into unit status and build history makes audits, rework, and root cause analysis slower and less reliable.

Solution

HF RFID Read/Write Heads installed along an assembly line read and write data to an RFID tag mounted on each workpiece carrier. Tags identify the part, record operator and machine IDs with time stamps, and store work instructions for each station. Read/write heads can use this data to guide local instructions over Modbus or IO-Link, sending part-specific information to a local status display such as an SD50, and to PLCs, HMIs, SCADA systems, or the cloud.
