Create a New Gateway
Once you are logged into Banner CDS, you will first want to create a new Gateway. Each Gateway will correspond with a DXM controller that will be sending data to the CDS platform.
There are two methods for connecting DXM to Banner CDS. The traditional method will be used in most cases and requires you to copy a Gateway ID from the cloud and put it into the XML configuration file of your DXM. The Auto-Discovery method is only compatible with Smart Solutions Starter Kits and Expansion Kits and allows you to connect a device quickly by entering the DXM’s serial number.
Traditional Gateway Creation
- Go to Device Management
- Click on + Add New Gateway
- Enter a Gateway Name and pick a company from the drop-down menu.
- Copy the Gateway ID for entering to the DXM configuration software shortly.
- Click Save.
- Open the DXM Configuration Software, then enter the Gateway ID under Settings/Cloud Services/Web Server. Save the XML and send it to the DXM controller.
- Returning to CDS, select your gateway and click Edit
- Update the XML by selecting the XML file you just sent into the DXM and click Save
- The DXM Device will begin pushing to the cloud
Auto-Discovery Gateway Creation
This method will only work when connecting a DXM that is part of a Starter Kit or Expansion Kit.
- Go to Device Management
- Click on + Add New Gateway
- Under Gateway Type select Auto-Discovery
- Enter a Gateway Name and pick a company from the drop-down menu.
- Enter the serial number of your DXM device under DXM Serial
- Click Save. The DXM device will begin pushing to the cloud.
